The Difference is the Dentistry
Dental crowns offer a chance to completely restore a cracked, broken, or decayed tooth that can no longer hold a filling. Crowns not only look natural, but they feel and function just like the rest of your teeth.
Dental crowns can be made from metal or porcelain, and are used as “caps” to cover the affected tooth completely. Your crowns will be fitted tightly to the base of your gums to protect the remaining tooth structure.
The best candidates for dental crowns are patients with a decayed, broken, or cracked tooth. Crowns can be used to hold a bridge in place, cover severely misshapen or discolored teeth, or to cover a dental implant. Many patients today opt for porcelain dental crowns for their natural look. Dr. Oglesby will make an assessment during your consultation with him and determine if dental crowns are right for you.
Once we have prepped your tooth for a crown by removing the damaged structure, we will take a mold to send to our dental laboratory. Your customized crown will be fabricated in the lab, and placed on your tooth once complete. We will give you a temporary crown to wear in the interim.
Dental crowns will restore the health, function, and appearance of a damaged tooth, and with proper care, will last you for many years to come. Enjoy all of your favorite foods and smile confidently again with dental crowns!
