The Difference is the Dentistry
Born and raised in Richmond Virginia, Dr. Oglesby received his B.A. in Biology from Wake Forest University, his Masters in Anatomy from Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Basic Sciences, and his D.D.S. degree from VCU’s School of Dentistry. Afterward completing a general practice residency program at the Hampton V.A. Medical Center, Dr. Oglesby began private practice in Williamsburg, VA in 1985.
Always one to question why some things work while others don’t, Dr. Oglesby never stops pursuing answers through on-going continuing education. As a graduate of the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies, Dr. Oglesby is one of approximately 2% of dentists nationwide trained in the discipline of neuromuscular dentistry. This hands-on training gives Dr. Oglesby additional insight into how the entire system controlling the position and function of the jaw – the teeth, muscles, and joints – work together to provide a harmonious relationship. From preventative care appointments to soft tissue management and major restorative needs, Dr. Oglesby understands that form and function go hand in hand.
In support of these basic elements to sound oral health, Dr. Oglesby continues to focus on additional coursework in areas such as soft tissue management, non-surgical treatment of TMJ, functional orthodontics, implant dentistry, full mouth reconstruction, and oral conscious sedation.
Dr. Oglesby is a proud father of three.
